BookBreak offers Mini Lessons as part of our virtual author talk program for Elementary School students. Mini Lessons are 5-7 minute videos on a variety of topics that you can add into your lesson plans and share with your students in whatever ways work best for you. They feature authors, illustrators, and BookBreak Elementary Host Jazmin Castillo!
These include mini lessons that tie into Writing, ELA, SEL, Math, Social Studies, Art, and Library Skills. We have assigned grade levels to each mini lesson, but you know your students best! You have the flexibility of showing them to whichever students you think would benefit most.
And…..there are new mini lessons each semester!
In addition to our author talks, curriculum resources, and mini lessons, students in our elementary program have the opportunity to participate in 3 writing workshops with an author on writing a short story. These include short writing videos and live revisions of at least one student-submitted story.
The Author in Residence Program is designed to help the students develop creative writing skills and gain confidence in crafting unique narratives for short stories.
